What this tool does, and what it does not do

A business registered for VAT charges 13% and records it on the bill it gives the customer. This tool formats that document: your VAT number, the line items, the taxable amount, VAT at 13%, the total and the amount in words, with dates in AD and Bikram Sambat.

It does not issue or validate a tax invoice, and it does not talk to the Inland Revenue Department. Whether a document counts as a tax invoice, how it must be numbered, and how it must be reported depend on the rules that apply to your business, so issue your tax invoice through the process required for you. The PDF says so on its face, and is labelled a draft.

If you are registered for PAN but not VAT, use the PAN bill instead. It removes the tax line from both the total and the document.

How to make one in five steps

  1. 1

    Add your business

Your business name, address, tax number and, if you like, your logo. The logo is read in your browser and never uploaded.

  2. 2

    Add your customer

Name and address, plus their PAN if they are a business that needs it for their own accounts.

  3. 3

List what you sold, with each rate

One line per item or service, with quantity and rate. Totals, discount, VAT and the amount in words update as you type.

  4. 4

    Set the dates

The issue date and the due date both show in AD and Bikram Sambat, so nobody has to convert them.

  5. 5

Add a way to pay, then download

Paste your payment link or upload your Fonepay, eSewa or Khalti QR to print a scan-to-pay code, check the live preview, then download the PDF.

Need a different document?

The same tool makes all of them: the document type buttons above the form switch type without losing what you have typed.

Questions

Can I use this as my official tax invoice?

No, and we do not claim you can. The tool formats the details you enter and marks the result a draft. Issuing a tax invoice depends on the rules and the billing process that apply to your business, so use the process required for you.

Is the VAT rate always 13%?

The tool uses 13%, the standard rate. Some goods and services are zero-rated or exempt, so check what applies to what you sell before you give the bill to a customer.

Does it show the taxable amount separately?

Yes. The bill shows the subtotal, any discount, the taxable amount, VAT at 13% and the total, plus the total in words.

Can I put my customer's PAN on it?

Yes. Business customers usually ask for it so they can record the purchase in their own accounts.

Does it record a transaction date and payment mode?

Yes. The VAT bill adds both fields, in AD and Bikram Sambat.

Do you store what I type?

Your document and QR contents stay in your browser.
